Deep Well Plates

Deep well plates are common products in life science laboratories. On the basis of the dimension of ordinary microplates, their length and width are kept in line with the SBS international standard, and the depth of wells is increased to achieve the effect of increasing the volume of each well. The material of deep well plates is polypropylene, a kind of high polymer material, so they own good chemical compatibility and can be used for preserving most polar organic solutions, acidic and alkaline solutions and other laboratory liquids. According to the number of the well, common deep well plates can be divided into 96-well plates and 384-well plates. The former has round holes and square holes, while the latter is all the square hole type. Moreover, according to the shape of the hole bottom, they also can be divided into two types that are U-shaped type plates and V-shaped type plates.

Deep well plates can replace the conventional 1.5ml centrifuge tubes to store samples, and with a large storage capacity, they are able to make the samples in order and save space. The extraction of genomic DNA and plasmid DNA, the nucleic acid extraction and purification of various samples, the precipitation of protein and the extraction of liquid can all be realized by the application of deep well plates. In practice, we can use the plate with multichannel pipettes and high-throughput automatic liquid operation instruments and software to realize the high-throughput operation on biological samples and greatly improve the efficiency of sample processing. Furthermore, deep well plates can also be directly placed in the sample storehouse of automatic equipment for sample introduction, which not only multiplies the number of samples put in the storehouse, but also saves work like sample absorbing and placing.
